Ludhiana: The police here have ordered AAP Leader Subhash Verma for allegedly violating the model of the model behavior, officials said on Friday.
According to FIR registered at the Dakhha police station, Verma discussed an election meeting in the Manewal Village on January 9 which violated the norms set by the General Election Commission (EC).
He has been ordered under Section 188 (disobedience to order correctly announced by civil servants) from Indian Code, police said.
This case was registered on January 12 after verifying complaints and with the help of videography was carried out in place, they said.
Given the prevailing Covid-19 situation, EC has imposed a prohibition of demonstrations, roadshows, ‘Nukkad Sabhas’, ‘inyatras’ and demonstrations of vehicles.
The prohibition will be reviewed on January 15.
However, Verma said he followed the EC command.
When campaigning in the villages, “I followed the instructions for the Election Commission and were careful to follow Covid norms.
Wherever I go, people reach out there and express their faith in the Aam Aadmi party”, he said.
Aam Aadmi Party Ludhiana District Incharge Amandeep Singh Mohi claims there are no actions taken against major meetings conducted by other political parties.
He said Verma campaigned according to EC instructions.
Voting for polls of the Punjab remembrance will be held on February 14.
