Chennai: The Directorate of Precautions and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) Karur unit has registered a case of disproportionate assets of the former Minister of Transportation Mr.
Vijayabaskar from Aiaadmk, his wife Vijyayshmi and brother R Sekar on July 21.
Raids was carried out in the 21 location of Karur District, Chennai and Chengalpet.
In Fir, DVAC accused the minister to buy eight properties worth almost 8 crivers in Karur on behalf of two partnership companies, Rainbow Dryer and Blue Metal Rainbow during 2016-2021 when Vijayabaskar was MLA and the minister.
The anti-corruption body said that Vijayabaskar and Vijayalakshi were partners in this company which raised suspicion that the assets were acquired by the Minister.
In addition, Sekar represents a partnership company and helps Vijayabaskar, conspiring with illegal enrichment while in the office, DVAC said.
Apart from this, DVAC said that former ministers and his wife had assets and property worth 2.68 crores during the examination period, which were disproportionate with their known source of income.
The disproportion rate is 55% of total income during the inspection period, DVAC said.
Claiming that he has entered several businesses for the past 35 years, Vijayabaskar said that he did not even have a house in Chennai and Karur.
He said DVAC searched his place on Thursday because Vendetta politics.
He also said he would submit the relevant documents to officials when he was called for an investigation.
