Chennai: The fresh Covid-19 case in Tamil Nadu fell below 5,000 marks on Monday after 81 days.
There are 4,804 new cases, 98 deaths and after the use of 6,553 people from Registry Covid, the state has 40,954 active cases.
The cumulative case counted 24.7 lakh and the death toll touched 32,388.
On April 8, the country recorded 4,276 new Covid-19 cases.
“Cases have dropped steadily and the state has a relaxed limit in several parts.
But people must wear masks, maintain social distance and often wash their hands,” said Minister of Health MA Subramanian.
On Monday, Coimbatore reported 597 cases followed by 506 in Erode and 318 in Salem.
All other districts have less than 300 new cases.
Chennai has 291, Trichy 185 and Madurai 78.
While at least 22 districts reported less than 100 new cases, seven regencies each reported less than 50 cases.
A scrambler reports14 new cases – at least.
Of the 98 deaths in the state, Madurai reported nine and coimbatore seven.
Salem, Tiruvalur, Cuddalore and Ranipet each reported six deaths, Kanyakumari reported five deaths.
Chennai and Trichy reported four deaths.
Seven districts reported no death.
The case fatality rate in the country touched 1.3%, when the recovery rate was transferred to 97%.
“With a drop in new cases, we experience less death.
Black mushroom cases are also reduced,” said a senior public health official.
