Dublin: The Covid-19 Daily case of Irish has surged to a record high since February this year, according to official figures.
The Irish Department of Health said in a statement that there were 1,378 new cases of Covid-19 reported in the country on Wednesday, report the Xinhua news agency.
This is the highest number of daily cases recorded in Ireland since January 31 this year when a total of 1,414 cases were reported in the country that day, according to data from the World Health Organization.
“The incidence of diseases in Ireland continues to increase,” said Ronan Glynn, deputy head of medical officers with the department, said.
The average moving five days of cases in this country has increased from 300 to 1,182 cases per day for the past month, he said.
On Wednesday, Glynn also told local media that changes in the number of people treated in hospitals and intensive care units (ICU) were left behind from changes in the profile of the disease in the community.
“We will see a significant increase in the coming weeks if the incident continues to increase,” he warned.
Until now, there were 96 Covid-19 patients treated in Ireland, where 22 were in the ICU, according to the Irish health department.
Earlier that month, Tony Holohan, the Chief Medical Officer Department, said that the Delta variant contributed more than 70% of new cases confirmed in this country.
