Patna: The day before meeting PM Narendra Modi with a delegation of all parties from Bihar, Minister of Justice (CM) Nitish Kumar on Sunday confirmed that the caste-based census must be held throughout the country at least once.
Responding to media requests, Nitish said the demand for the caste census was an important problem.
“We have sued it for a long time,” he added.
Nitish will lead the delegation of 11 members of 10 political parties from Bihar and meet PM in New Delhi on Monday to suppress the caste-based census in the country.
The meeting will be held at 11am.
Asked whether the demand for the caste census would be filled during his meeting with PM, said Nitish, “Let’s see.” “If our request is accepted, nothing is better than that.
Not only the Bihar people ask for caste-based census.
People throughout the country support it.
The leaders of all political parties from Bihar will be together to meet PM and submit a request,” Nitish said.
CM and some other delegation members reach Delhi on Sunday night.
Opposition leader at the Tejashwi Prasad Yadav Bihar Assembly, which will represent RJD in the delegation, already in Delhi.
Delayed long demand for conducting a caste census was revived in July this year after the Government government told Lok Sabha that it would not mention a wise population, except those from SCS and STS.
Previously, the state government of Maharashtra and Odisha also asked the center to collect detailed caste in the coming census.
Reacting to the middle reply at Lok Sabha, Nitish has urged the center on July 24 to reconsider his decision.
The Council of Bihar unanimously passed the resolution on February 18, 2019 and again on February 27, 2020; demand a wise population calculation.
Nitish said the two resolutions were sent to the center and were asked to hold a wise population calculation during the Census-2021.
