Panaji: The Country Cabinet on Wednesday approved a scheme to provide financial assistance once one-time respectively RS 5,000 to people in marginalized or unorganized sectors who lost their livelihoods because of the Pandemic Covid-19.
This exercise tends to swallow the government costs Rs 25 Crore.
Cabinet records stated that because of locking and curfew, many did their work in the traditional business of Goa, as well as in marginalized sectors and were not organized, they had lost their livelihoods.
Therefore government social responsibility to expand one-time financial assistance to them, the word note.
“It is expected that nearly 50,000 people involved in these sectors, (or) are involved in running traditional work or traditional cave businesses, losing their livelihoods or sources of income,” said the note.
The Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant said that the state government expects at least 25,000-30,000 people to be applied under the scheme.
Sawant said that the autorickshaw driver, motorcycle and other taxi riders were eligible under this scheme.
He said that there was a one-page form to be applied.
The State Cabinet also provides approval for the creation of the Public-Private Partnership Department, which was previously a PPP cell.
