New Delhi: Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) has arrested a copy suspected of deceiving someone in a tone of Rs 80 Lakh by disguising as Chair of the National Highway Authority (NHAI), the CBI said on Friday.
According to the CBI, the accusation of Manoj Kumar Jha, a resident of Madhubani in Bihar, was arrested from Gurugram, Haryana.
After arrest, the search was made in eight places including in the city of Delhi, Kolkata, Madhubani and Bokaro Steel which led to the recovery of various burdensome documents and around 200 SIM cards.
“It is suspected that the Impersonator called a senior officer in Nhai.
Also alleged that the complainant was advised to speak with the chairman, because he had received information to refer to two-three major contractors for some urgent purposes,” CBI said.
When the complainant contacted Jha, he asked him that his daughter desperately needed the 80 lakh Hospital in Kolkata and he headed to collect the number from there.
“The number was allegedly transferred through Hawala to Kolkata and was collected by the defendant himself,” he added.
The defendant was in police custody until August 9.
