The Central Education Council (CBSE) will launch the ‘Reading Mission’, which aims to increase reading literacy among students, which is in line with the objectives of national education policy (NEP), 2020.
Speaking to the education period, Joseph Emmanuel, Director, CBSE (academics), said that “reading mission is a program designed by the CBSE to promote reading habits among students.
National Preivement Survey (NAS) conducted in 2017 revealed about one third of students Schools cannot read and write correctly.
Reading is a root competency, which leads to understanding, analyzing, interpretation, evaluation and creativity.
This campaign aims to make each student read with a minimum speed and skill.

The CBSE reading mission will be held throughout India and Pratham books have offered school to use all their publications for free.
Target for class I students to VII, there are four modules for nurseries, kg, I and II children, there are 60 books available to read.
For class III and IV students we have 61 books while 66 books for class V and VI students.
Finally, for class VII students and VIII who are sophisticated readers, 62 book reservoirs are available for them to read and enrich.
