‘The center holds an emergency meeting about burning plant residues’

New Delhi: The Center must hold a “Emergency” neighboring meeting of Delhi to design a mechanism for dealing with burning plant residues because city air quality has deteriorated, the Minister of Environment Delhi Gopal Rai said on Sunday.
The City Air Quality Index (AQI) stood in 437 in a severe category at 8 am on Sunday.
That’s 449 on Saturday.
The incidence of plant residues (Parali) caught fire in other countries and air quality in Delhi was related as a deteriorating air quality figure, Rai said at a press conference.
“There is also a cracker effect that explodes in Diwali but is now reduced.
The effect of ‘Parali’ Burning, however, continues to worsen air quality in Delhi,” he said.
Rai said he had written to the Environment Minister who asked the state “emergency” meeting, including Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi to find a mechanism to overcome the eternal problem of burning plant residue and high air pollution rates in the national capital.
Burning plant residues in neighboring countries is responsible for worsening air quality in Delhi during the winter, he added.
Aqi between zero and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfying, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, 301 and 400 are very bad, and 401 and 500 are severe.
Because of the rampant blast of crackers on Thursday even though there were restrictions, air quality in Delhi was the poorest in five years after the festival with the increasing incidence of propellers in neighboring countries.
The city Aqi sneaked into the severe category on Thursday night.
