Shillong: Minister of Home Union Amit Shah said on Saturday that the NDA government in the center was interested in resolving limit disputes among northeastern countries and making peaceful and developing areas.
Shah also stated optimism that the regional contribution to GDP would exceed 20 percent.
“The Modi Government (Narendra) moves forward in the northeast by giving the importance of three things – to complete all the northeast disputes and make it a peaceful area, to preserve and promote language, culture and create awareness about it India and third, by making the Northeast region Forward and bring his GDP contribution to the pre-independence level, “Shah said.
With the collective efforts of all parties, the aim will be achieved in several years, Shah said, which was on a two-day visit to the state from Saturday to inaugurate a development project.
“A day will come when the contribution of this region to GDP will exceed 20 percent, there will be no traces of poverty, unemployment, and riots,” he said.
The Ministers of News Union said that northeast connectivity was given the highest priority by the Government of NDA.
“When we used to say that we will connect the capital of all northeastern states by train and air, then those who are in the opposition ordinary people laugh at us,” he said.
The Modi government aims to connect the capital of all states from the region by train, road and airways before 2023-24, he said it added that development can occur only when this remote area is geographically equipped with all types of connectivity.
“The work that is being done here today should have been done many years ago.
Today, the inter-country bus terminal is being built here with the help of the Government of India and the Meghalaya government at a cost of Rs 50 Crore,” Shah said.
The terminus bus will also increase the economic activity of the region, he said.
The POK Minister of Bukun said that without connectivity, both the state of the corner of this country can be ascertained, as well as the golden era of this region can be brought back.
He said that if there were areas that had the richest culture in the whole world, it was in the northeast because many languages, culture, musical instruments and identity of different cultural had been preserved because eight states had tried to complement each other through exchanges.
He said that cultural, language, music, dance, food and beverages in this region were Indian jewelry and the responsibility of maintaining it lies in all of India, and not just northeast.
The Union Minister said that the government has also made many efforts so that the development and service reaches residents through information technology.
As far as Meghalaya concerning, the work of accelerating the rate of development has been carried out by the Government of Narendra Modi since 2014, he said.
The Government of Meghalaya has completed 67 projects at a cost of around Rs 700 Crore with central assistance and 38 other projects worth RS 800 Crore are in the process, Shah said.
The NDA government has also provided Rs 650 Crore to the country to increase jackfruit production, fungi, silk, milk, and fish, he said.
He said that around six and a half lakh Meghalaya did not have a previous bank account, but today every family can open a bank account under Jan-Dhan Yojana.
Now, there is no one house in Meghalaya which does not have a temporary toilet attempt to provide tap water to 3.39 lakh households where not available, Shah said.
