The center of ‘Just Energy Transition’ was launched, 20 million workers in 120 districts may require support

New Delhi: When India gradually moves towards the renewable source to fulfill its energy demand, experts on Tuesday released a roadmap for ‘only transition’ so that the focus on renewable energy does not affect the livelihood of fossil fuel-based industries in Indonesia as many as 120 districts throughout the country , Roadmap, together released by the leader of the Congress and former Minister of Environment Jairam Ramesh and BJP MP Jayant Sinha, focused on the way of transitioning from coal for the demand for energy of the country without influencing more than 20 million workers who are directly involved or indirectly.
Fossil fuels and fossil fuel dependent industries.
Because they need replacement work and skills, roadmaps, prepared by the New Delhi-based think tank tank, iforest, identify 60 major districts where the assistance is needed to save work for 10-30 years transition period.
Many of these districts are in Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Gujarat, where industry restructuring will be required to avoid socio-economic disorders because of the ongoing energy transition.
This report carries a roadmap – ‘Five R: cross-sectoral landscapes only transitions in India’ – identify economic restructuring in districts that depend on fossil fuels; Tepulposing land and infrastructure; Workership skills; Safety of income and social practices and the environment are responsible as five main components of ‘only transition’.
Iforest on the occasion also virtually launched India only the transition center (IJTC) which will bring mutual stakeholders to work on various aspects of ‘only transitions’ in India.
“There is a need to create independent research capacity which will be the basis for advocacy and ultimately larger policy changes.
IJTC will have an important role in creating this capacity and uniting expertise,” said Ramesh, who is also the Chair of the Standing Parliamentary Committee on the Environment and Climate Change , and technology.
Paying attention to the importance of reports that carry a road map to ‘only transition’, he said he wanted to be circulated among all parliamentarians parliamentary panels so they knew the importance of the transition on the stage where India was the first time “phase down” coal consumption before finally “phase out”.
“Bearing coal for two to three decades is very important to fulfill climate goals.
Planning for this must begin now.
IJTC will play an important role in bridging the gap between state policies and national and land reality,” said Sinha representing the Hazariibagh constituency area , a major coal district of Jharkhand – the country where 50% of coal mines are temporarily closed or permanently closed on the grounds of discretion.
“Many mines are closed without the right mine closure and plans for the socio-economic transition of mining areas.
IJTC will work with stakeholders to develop ‘only transition’ policies and plans in these areas,” Chandra Bhushan said, CEO iforest.
