Kolkata: The government bengal accused on Friday that the center declined at the last minute of the request of CM Mamata Banerjee to go to Kathmandu to attend the Prime Session of the 14th National Convention Congress Nepal.
Banerjee has requested permission from the Ministry of External Affairs to attend a session on Friday, after the President of the Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba congress will invite CM on November 26.
Deuba wrote that “The presence of Banerjee will encourage us to strengthen democracy in our region and beyond and strengthen our party-to-party relations”.
The Bengal government, according to the rules, look for permission from the Ministry.
MEA is looking for “clarification”, which is responded to by the state, said senior state government officials.
But permission was rejected “very late on Thursday” because it was a “personal invitation”, they said.
CM must cancel the trip to Rome this September to Chicago in 2018 after being denied permission.
