New Delhi: The center on Monday refused to varying the burial and cremation soup prescribed for the covid victim’s body disposal to accommodate the funeral ceremony for Parsi Zoroaster in the silence tower.
In a written statement submitted before the Supreme Court, the center said the corpse of patients infected with Covid is likely to be exposed to the environment and animals, if not buried or cremated well.
Accommodating funeral ceremonies involving professional pallbearers and exposing the body to nature to rot, the center is added.
Parsi ritual prohibits burial or cremation of the corpse.
Previously, the Supreme Court was seeking Assistance to Public Lawyers Tushar Mehta to find a peaceful solution in resolving the complaints of the Parsi community, which could not conduct a traditional burial of its members who died of Covid-19.
Judge Dy Chandrachud and when Bopanna asked Mehta to use his office and had fun with the office of the Director General of Health Services to tweak the existing guidelines for Covid victims’ burial.
