Thiruvananthapuram: The Ministry of Environment The Union on Monday rejected the request of the Kerala government asking permission to declare a wild boar as Vermin, saying letting citizens to destroy animals would create more danger than goodness.
Kerala Forest Minister A K Saseendran said the Environment Minister Union Bhupender Yadav had promised that the ministry would check whether there were other ways to overcome the problem.
Saseendran met Yadav today in New Delhi and raised the issue of an increase in the threat of wild boar threats in the villages bordering the forest.
Saseendran said the agricultural community in this country has urged the government to categorize forest boar as VERMIN because their livelihoods are affected due to plant destruction by animals whose population has been steep.
“This was informed to the Central Minister.
He said allowing animal hunting citizens would be more dangerous than kindness.
He has promised to check whether there are other existing ways to overcome threats and help residents,” Kerala minister told reporters in New Delhi after meeting Yadav .
The Kerala High Court in July this year has allowed the killing of a wild boar on agricultural land some farmers as steps taken by the state government to curb threats did not produce results.
Saseendran regretted that wild animal attack incidents including elephants into human settlements and cities were reported in many parts of the southern state and there was no existing scientific solution to prevent the incident.
He said Yadav had assured that this problem would be discussed in detail and they would try to find a permanent solution for it.
During his meeting, Saseendran also submitted a memorandum to the Central Minister seeking Help RS 670 Crore to determine forest boundaries in the state and create the right habitat in the forest to prevent their attacks into villages and cities in seeking prey and water.
