Chennai: Minister of Water Resources Tamil Nadu S Duraimurugan on Friday quoted the Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that the Karnataka government could not build a Mekedatu dam because it did not meet the rules for preparation for detailed project reports.
Duraimurugan spoke to reporters at Tamil Nadu House, after leading the Delegation of the Tamil Nadu legislative party to convey to Shekhawat, the state opposition against the Dam Mekedatu.
Before his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister of B D Yediyurappa said he would discuss the issue of developments related to Karnataka including the Mekedatu project.

The state must get the approval of the Riparian countries, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry , and the Cauvery Water Management Authority and the Central Air Commission for the Center to allow the implementation of the DPR.
