Thiruvananthapuram: The President of the State of Mahila Morcha Nivedita Subramanian on Saturday said that the steps of the Narendra Modi government to increase the minimum age to marry women to 21 years will lead to women’s empowerment.
He said the regressive mindset of those who objected to the steps must be identified.
In the current state, most girls want to get married only after getting a job and completing a degree course at least.
For this reason, the decision of the Government of Narendra Modi to increase the minimum age to get married for women will be an entertainer for girls, he said.
“Considering an increase in infant mortality, vitamin deficiency in mothers and infants, health problems faced by girls who are mothers at a very young age and the high number of girls fall into traps at a young age, the decision to raise the age of marriage.
Girls Will help them more to lead life more independently, “said Mahila Morcha leader.
The Morcha leader’s response came when IUML, CPM, and Congress had accused the motive that doubted behind the movement and therefore opposed the same thing.
Meanwhile, opposition leader V D Satheesan said in Kochi on Saturday that because the decision to increase the age of marriage for women was taken by the United States and it became a national problem, the National Leadership of the Congress would survive on it.
“Party leadership has sought the opinions of leaders of the country about this problem,” he said.
