The CET date will be announced after the SSC results: Maha Govt to HC

Mumbai: The state government on Monday told Bombay the High Court that the date for the joint entry test (CET) for junior college acceptance would be told only after the SSC exam results were stated.
It was responded to queries from Ramesh Judicial Bench Dhanuka and Riyaz Chagla at the petition by ICSE students Patki from Ies Orion School, Dadar to cancel the notification of May 28 which stated “Acceptance to the standard XI / Junior College in Maharashtra will be based on CET which in turn will only be based on the SSC board syllabus.

He said there were 16 lakh SSC and 4 Lakh ICSE / CBSE students and CET will be done offline.
“This is a complete discrimination.
I don’t have a position to appear on CET,” said Patki.
He said students who appeared on the CET will be given the first preference for reception.
Patki urged the court to remain notification of May 28 which said the mother would be severely prejudiced.
“If I get 92% and because I don’t give CET, I have to go to Thane, Kalyan, Colleges Dombivli,” he added.
Asked by the judges when CET will be held, the state advocate Jyoti Chavan said the date was definitely not decided.
“Unless the SSC results are stated that we cannot declare the date of CET,” he said, adding that it could be done no earlier than the first August.
Judges, in their order, noted that considering Chavan’s statement at this stage they did not tend to provide temporary assistance to stay.
The trial post on July 22 they direct the country to answer dealing with problems raised in the petition.
