The changes are debated in the NCERT textbook bias: IHC

Agra: The biggest historian body in the country, Indian History Congress (IHC), has objected to the proposed change from the school textbook, said that it was being carried out for political reasons, not academic.
At the beginning of the year, Rajya Sabha’s secretariat had told that the change in the school textbook curriculum will be discussed by the standing parliamentary committee.
In what is called “reform”, he said the focus will eliminate “unsisting facts” and “distortion about our national hero”, and to ensure “the same or proportional reference for all Indian history periods”.
The public response was invited until June 30 and the deadline was then extended until July 15, when IHC sent his response.
IHC, founded in 1935, has more than 35,000 members.
“IHC is very disturbed by the wrong information and the bias that is projected on behalf of the reform in the existing NCERT textbook,” the letter, his copy with TOI, said.
“Criticism of existing textbooks in the ‘reform’ which is being commemorated does not arise from a national and internationally recognized historian expert, but from the political position that is favored by the cutting of non-academic prejudices.” The reason, IHC said, it was afraid of “distortion” because there was a precedent.
“School textbooks are written for NCERT by some of the highest scholars in the country …
actually removed, and in books where they are in clear sectarian, the majority bias was introduced in 2002,” the letter said.
After a significant blowback, the books were withdrawn a year later.
IHC members told toi that books must continue to be reviewed and studied.
“But this must be done involving recognized scholars, taking into account the academic content, which comes from a research-based understanding of the historical period,” said Secretary Prof.
Mahalaxmi Ramakrishnan.
“What we mention is an effort to present a distorted understanding of the past history,” added President IHC Amiya Bagchi.
In addition, IHC said, the reason quoted for the proposed change was unfounded.
“Claims that there is ‘facts and endless distortion’ in connection with the National Hero completely wrong,” said the letter.
“Next, claims about the lack of the same space given to various periods of Indian history are not borne by books that are currently used by NCERT,” he added.
In an accompanying note to determine what he said, the main source of IHC, the proportion of representations of each historical period, “National Hero” and “Historical Women’s Leaders” in the NCert textbook used by class VI students to XII.
What was added to fear, IHC members said, was how the Bachelor’s historical course was redesigned this year.
The first proposed paper, for example, is ‘Bharat’ idea.
“As if the Bharat concept has been there since time immemorial,” said Member of the IHC Executive Committee Prof.
Syed Ali Nadeem Rezavi, who taught at the historical department of the Muslim University of Aligarh.
“Also, on behalf of Balancing, most aspects of the medieval period were deleted.
However, what had been emphasized was a communal dispute – so, most of the Sultan of the Delhi Sultanate came out, Aurangzeb and Shivaji was maintained.” The day before IHC sent his letter.
, Indian Archaeological Survey has announced that it will remove plaque in taro rakta in Rakasthan, which said Pratap’s Maharana troops resigned from the battle in Haldightati, fought against the Great Akbar in 1576.
New Plaques was immediately prepared.
