While 13 of the 90 MLA support the Tungkap “Chhattisgarh Vidhi Viruddh Dharm Samparivartan Pratishyh Vidhyak, 2021” was transferred by former Brijmohan Agrair Minister, 54 legislators against it.
The rest is abstained or nothing.
Brijmohan Agarwalthe Speaker then forbade his tunggails.
Agrawal said the bill was aimed at protecting young women who were “lured and fooled” into marriage with the aim of forced repentance.
Many such victims are not divorced later, he said.
This causes friction between the community and legal and order problems, and the bill will “secure the future of our girls”, the BJP legislator claims.
BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh had applied the law against fraud conversions through marriage.
