Nagpur: Although more than 22,000 autorickshaw operates in the city, only 8% have official parking in corporate limits.
According to information obtained from the traffic police and regional transportation authorities, there are 203 official autorickshaw throughout the city.
They can only accommodate 1,826 autos for parking.
Because of the lack of parking for the autorickshaw, the tricycle driver faces action from the traffic police.
The existing stand is not enough.
The driver also faces harassment from the authorities concerned.
Traffic police do not allow parking of more than 10 autorickshaws in one stand.
The driver faces action from the traffic police if the vehicle is stopped on the road.
The autorickshaw driver claim was also a reality when TII found that 10 traffic police zones sentenced 4,448 autorickshaws in the last eight months of this calendar year in all police coming boundaries to park their tricycle in the zone without their parking zone.
The driver of the Autorickshaw said that most of their stands had been applied by roadside vendors.
Recently, the delegation also filed a complaint to the Nagpur City Police.
Conventor of Tiger Autorickshaw Sanghthana Vilas Bhalekar said most of the stand autorickshaw in the city had been occupied by roadside vendors.
Although there were complaints to the traffic police, there were no steps initiated to free the stands.
Citing examples, Bhalekar said that the autorickshaw Union had made four complaints to senior inspectors (the cotton market traffic zone) regarding encroachment at four STAN Autorickshaw, including Nanga Putla Chowk, Shahid Chowk (Itwari), Rimaldar Akhada (Teen Khamba) Chowk ( Timki).
There is no action taken to free the automatic booth.
“There is a need to make provisions to overcome this problem.
This problem has been raised several times before RTO but there is no effort seen to solve this problem.
We do not know when it will be addressed.
The authorickshaw driver also demanded to stand in suburban areas such as BESA, Godhni , Dabha, Sakkardara etc., “he said.
However, residents and riders feel the opposite.
According to them, the becak automatically parked their vehicles carelessly throughout the city and added traffic congestion.
Traffic congestion can be seen in Variety Square, Rani Jhansi Square, near Bhavan bus station and train station.
“Because driving reckless and sudden cessation of this car, several accidents take place regularly,” is the general opinion of the driver.
Due to the negligence of the police and the implementation of bad law and order, this automatic rickshaw driver barely follows the rules and stops anywhere in the middle of the road to get commuters.
“Even many city bus shelter has been spread by this tricycle driver on several routes,” said Prashant Mane, a resident of Pardi.
Because of encroachment, city buses cannot stop at designated shelters, causing traffic congestion.
