Mumbai: In a significant decision, the Maharashtra government has decided to establish a world-class science city near Pune, under the central scheme to instill the scientific spirit among students and prepare future scientists, officials said on Wednesday.
The proposed complex will be named “Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi Science Innovation City” and will be developed on the 8-hectare complex in the Corporate Jurisdiction of Municipal Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting led by the Head of Minister of Uddhav Thackeray and the initial expenditure of RS 191 Crore had been subject to sanctions for the central government initiative.
“This will be ready in the next five years.
This is intended to create a scientific view among students and prepare future scientists,” Thackeray said.
He said that acknowledging the need to strengthen knowledge and technology to form India to the 21st century, this city will help adopt a scientific approach to change, increasing the scientific temperament among people and students, using technology for social development, experience learning approaches, experience Creating curiosity for science among the younger generation and teaching science in a way that is easy to understand, fun.
The ‘Bharat Ratna Rawak Gandhi Science Innovation’ proposal is expected to appear in the famous Pimpri-Chinchwad Science Park area which became operational in 2013 and has become a large crowd puller, said PCPS Education Officer Sunil Pote.
“We have been told that the upcoming science innovation center will be designed on similar class scientific zone lines in China, Singapore and other countries.
This will be a good contribution to popularize knowledge among young thoughts,” Pote said .
