The city severity is higher than Mumbai, Gadkari said

Nagpur: The Transport Minister Union Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said the Nagpur accident index was almost four times more than Mumbai.
According to Gadkari, the streets of the city witnessed eight deaths against one lakh population in an accident on the road every year.
Sharing Nagpur City Traffic Accident Analysis, Gadkari said in 2018, the accidental severity index was 21.22%, 24.83% in 2019 and rose to 70.17% in 2020.
“The road accident in 2020 declined in the city Another city, while Nagpur City witnessed a steep increase, “said Minister of Transportation and admitted that it was a problem of shame for him too.
“On average, 1,500 accidents on the road occur every year, which claims the life of 250 people,” he said.
“During the investigation of a road accident, the police easily blamed the driver but had never tried to find out the exact cause that might include errors in the road design,” Gadkari said.
He later expressed the sadness of the official from Nagpur Municipal Corporation, improvements to the improvement of Nagpur and the police department for a lack of coordination to curb accidents.
As a result, the enhanced road infrastructure has become accident-prone spots, Gadkari said at the launch of Iriste, an artificial intelligence system (AI) to prevent road accidents and identify black spots.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation in relation to CSIR-CRRI, Mahindra and Mahindra, Inai, IIT-H and Intel have joined hands to make city roads safer for riders.
Gadkari also recommends providing 25% of the good amount as a commission to people who inform the authority of traffic violations, especially parking vehicles on the road and in the area without parking.
According to Gadkari, this step will facilitate the workload of police personnel.
Highlighting Nhai’s achievements, Gadkari said the national road body has built 20 roads throughout the country which can also be used as air basis for landing.
“In addition, 450 Helipad will be built as a shared national highway.
This facility will help achieve medical assistance on time using air ambulances throughout the country,” he said.
Under the Irasta project, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation fleet will be equipped with a collision avoidance technology that can reduce accidents and close to misses to 60%.
The sensor in this technology will also help map the dynamic risk of all road networks (gray spot maps) for the first time.
Road maintenance agents can use this information to prevent accident-prone zones (black spots) before they claim life.
Project Irise will conduct a detailed study to recommend improvements to existing black spots and implement AI-Powered systems for continuous monitoring of road infrastructure quality.
“Project Ireast uniquely utilizing the expertise and ability of all partners,” said the Director General of the Scientific Council and Industrial Research Dr.
Shekhar Mande.
Nivruti Rai, Head of State, Intel India and Vice President, Intel Foundry Service and Prof.
P J Narayanan, Director, IIIit-Hyderabad also discussed the audience.
Gadkari, however, said that the cost of an artificial intelligence unit (RS 35,000) is not much more affordable for institutions such as NMC, MSRTC etc.
Technology prices must be reached for general residents too, he said.
The AI system has been installed in 30 bus AAPLI HANSA Travels Nagpur Group as a pilot project.
“We have installed 30 units on our Hingna Depot bus and the data produced by this software is very helpful for drivers and authorities to identify the heat zone (high traffic time and spots) and black spots and alarms are cautious And training for drivers will help in reducing accidents thus saving a lot of life, “Adit Chhajed said from Hansa.
