Panaji: The Coastal Zone Management Authority of the Goa (GCZMA) has imposed a fine of RS 20,000 to the allegations of the perpetrators to extend the audience in cases related to the construction of 11 meters from a high tide in Mobor, Cavelossim, in the development of the Zone (NDZ) from the Sal River.
After several hearings, GCZMA has directed alleged offenders to produce evidence that the existing structure stood in the same location before 1991, or destroyed illegal extensions.
But allegations of violators are looking for more time from the coastal body, which works in the time line provided by the High Court to hear this problem, encouraging it to buy it.
A complaint was submitted with GCZMA in January this year that illegal development was being carried out in Mobor, Cavelossim.
The complainant also submits a request for writing in the High Court, based on where the court has directed GCZMA to inspect alleged illegal structures.
GCZMA experts and field surveyors then inspected March 1, and stated that the prime facie, the structure seemed invalid and lay in the zone without the development of the Sal River.
Based on reports of GCZMA expert members, the High Court requested the authority and village of Panchayat Cavelossim to ask and take the right action in this case.
During the audience, the alleged violator told GCZMA that the house was already in Mobo, Cavelossim, before 1991.
He asked to be allowed to regulate the structure as permitted for pre-1991 coastal houses.
He also told GCZMA that the structure would only be used for housing purposes.
However, the complainant said that the structure had been extended far outside the 27 square meter area in its original home.
The new structure has been built only 11m from a high tide, he said.
The complainant also said that the extension was carried out without permission from GCZMA and therefore had to be destroyed.
