The community violates solid waste mgmt rules to deal with GMC actions

Ghaziabad: GMC is ready to break the whip on a large housing community that does not hold on to the rules of solid waste management (SWM), 2016.
Two teams from 12 members each have been formed to carry out inspections in the housing society – which is considered a mass waste generator – and Forcing a penalty on the offender from August 16, officials said on Thursday.
According to the SWM rule, any community that produces more than 100 kg of civil waste must regulate the processing plant to separate wet and dry waste.
Both between Rs 10,000 and RS 5 Lakh can be charged on violators.
“But of the 525 housing communities surveyed in the city, only 15% have established a waste treatment plant.
This is a breach of SWM rules and starting August 16, we launch a boost to punish people like that,” said Mithilesh Kumar, GMC City Health Officer.
Ghaziabad produces more than 1,200 metric tons of civil waste every day and GMC aims to ensure segregation of wet and dry waste in the source.
“With the increasing population, the separation of waste in the source is the need for hours and the average individual produces anything between 350g and 400g waste a day.
If dry and wet waste is separated from the source, it will reduce the generation of half waste,” Kumar said.
“On our side, we have established a waste processing plant in the Sihani area, which processes 200 metric tons of waste every day and other factories with the capacity to process 350 metric tons of waste will be operational next month.
Three more plants will appear in the city,” said City health worker.
Residents have welcomed moving.
Alok Kumar from Fed Aoa, said, “Residents and Rwas must be made more aware and the existing law must be strictly enforced so that the same becomes a prevention when it comes to implementing a wet and dry waste segregation government in the source.”
