Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation has canceled the project worth RS 19 Crore in the North and Western Zone which is in various stages of implementation.
The decision to cancel projects was approved at a board meeting held on July 30.
Resolution passed on the council to cancel the project uploaded on the Corporation website on August 31.
In the North Zone, it works like the laying of new cement roads, repairing existing cement roads, maintaining the crematorium and shift transformers to carry out other jobs has been canceled.
The total value of work is Rs 10.3 Crore.
The works were canceled by remembering the current company’s financial position, the corporation had owed Rs 120 Crore to contractors, who had completed the project, under public funds.
This resolution also reads that the project will be reviewed based on priority after the financial position improves.
In the Western Zone, projects were called since the contractor concerned did not start working within the specified time given by the corporation.
Jobs are mostly related to road repairs, which are damaged by placing drinking water pipes and underground drainage jobs.
One of the canceled projects is a road repair work that must be done at Ward 6, including in Garden Ishwariya, Colony Nehru Vidyalaya, MK Nagar, and SP Nagar.
The streets are damaged because the Kavundampalayam-vadavalli-veeperalam drinking water project is carried out by the Twad board.
