Bengaluru: Indian national promotion and authorization center (in space), the new Nodal Agency is formed to promote and regulate private companies in the space sector will have faculty members from IISC, IIT-Madras, Jawaharlal University Nehru (JNU)) from academics Together with senior executives from the industry and representatives from the Department of Space (DOS).
Industrial representatives in the council are: Jayanth Patil, Vice President of the Senior L & T Business Executive; R madhavan, cmd, psu defense thing; BRAHMOS AEROSPACE CEO.
While Patil is named after members, the other two are members of Ex-Officio.
This is aside from the chairman – appointing Pawan Goenka.
As reported by the previous TOI, the council was considered to have members of the industry, academics and government because they were designed to act as a national nodal body to promote private efforts in this sector.
In the future, in space will have their own directorate for technical, legal, safety & security activities, monitoring and promotion of activities in DOS.
While the Union Cabinet cleared the formation of agency in 2020, permission for the formation of a board in space only came earlier this month (September 7).
While the initial recommendation has the names of ISRO senior officials to lead the agency, since the revised and approval was finally given to the council with Goenka as chairman.
Representatives of academics are: Shailesh Nayak, Director, National Institute of Advanced Studies (Nias); Prof.
Jagadeesh Kumar, Deputy Chancellor, JNU; Prof.
Joseph Mathew, Head (Aerospace), IISC; Prereti Preeta Aghalalayam, Iit-Madras and Tejpal Singh, Director General, Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Application and Geoinformatics (Bisag-N), from the Government of Gujarat.
Additional Secretary in DOS will be another ex-officio member, the scientific secretary of Dos R Umaheswaran, who is heading for the interim committee in space, and a Rajarajan, Director, Satish Dhawan Space Center, has been named a member.
