Ludhiana: While Covid’s case is in a decline, there is an increase in the number of deaths.
As data on the Ministry of Health, 41 Ludhianvis lost their lives from 21 to 27 January.
The count of weekly victims is the highest in more than seven-and-half months.
Last year’s data showed that the number of more weekly victims was between May 28 and June 3, when 68 districts lost their lives.
In the ongoing month, there were three deaths between December 31 and January 6; seven of January 7 to 13; and 31 for 14 January to 20 before going up to the present value.
Weekly counts remained under 10 of June 25 to July 1 last year, when six deaths were reported, until early January.
In the previous year, eight weeks did not see death because Covid.
Meanwhile, the mortality rate of January 21-27 put Ludhiana at the top of the country’s charts.
Gurdaspur was the second (24) and Patiala, Amritsar and Hoshiarpur sharing third place with 23 deaths.
There was no death in Fazilka in that period last period, there were eight deaths here.
The deceased includes patients from district and outside and none of them are vaccinated.
On average, around 50% to 60% of patients who died were not vaccinated.
Also, most of the deceased has several comorbidity.
