The count of wetlands is held in Hry on January 23

Gurgaon: Haryana Wetland bird census will be carried out on Sunday – January 23 – in Sultanpur and Najafgarh National Park Jheel by the wildlife department to mark the ‘World Wet World Day’ which falls in February 2.
This is an annual bird census to assess the population bird at Wetlands throughout the state.
The department of wildlife has formed two teams with eight members each to cover the Sultanpur National Park and Najafgarh Jheel.
A similar team will also include Bhindawas and Wetlands Mandhoti on Jhjar.
It is important to note that on August 10, 2020, two wetlands of Haryana National Park – Sultanpur in Gurgaon and Bhindawas wildlife reserves in Jhajjar – have been included in the Ramsar Haryana list having around 1,441 wetlands, but only two are protected under the Ramsar agreement.
Last year, the Ministry of Forestry has recommended Sultanpur and Bhindawas Wetlands for Ramsar tags for world wetland days in 2022.
With binoculars in hand and cameras depending on their necks, wildlife officials on Sunday will roam to wetlands in Haryana.
“This is a birding event throughout the day to mark the upcoming wetland day.
The team will count as many birds and make their list,” said Rajesh Chahal, Wildlife Inspector, Gurgaon.
Meanwhile, the Asian Waterbirds Census will be carried out on January 29 and 30 throughout the state.
Experts about birds say that Sultanpur National Park has a variety of winter water poultry and residents.
After years there was a successful nest of black-necked storks in Sultanpur National Park, said Birders.
Meanwhile, experts appreciate the idea that the state is carrying out a wetland census.
“The government must now expand the census to wetlands that are less well known in the state.
Haryana has several small patches where bird visits every year.
This small area requires protection,” said Pankaj Gupta, a birdder of the Society of Delhi birds.
