Mumbai: The state government gave rapid approval for 60 universities in the state to start the additional division this year.
From here, Mumbai has seven, including the National College Bandra, Vile Parle’s Malini Kishor Sanghvi College and Don Bosco College, Kurla.
Most of the Mumbai universities have been seeking approval to add divisions for BMS, followed by BCOM (Accounting & Finance) or BF and BCUR.
Nearly 50% of colleges who are looking for additional divisions are affiliated with Pune University.
RD National College gets approval for the extra division for BMS and BAF, while Vile Parle College each will have one division each in BMS and BMM.
Two colleges in Bhiwandi are looking for extra divisions for ordinary BCAC.
Twenty-nine colleges affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University was given permission to start the extra division, one of which, strives to increase intake for seven courses.
While students recognize this new division will be allowed to complete the duration of three-year courses, universities must look for new permits next year to recognize students in the first year in this additional division.
