Udhagamandalam: The District Children’s Protection Department has saved three siblings, who were sold for two years, on Thursday, even when the All-Woman Ooty police arrested their parents and released them in custody for violations.
The official source said the Couple Robin-Monisha, from the Kandal area in Ooty, had sold their elder daughter, who was three years old, to the younger sister of Monisha two years ago, while the second daughter, two years old, sold to a partner.
In Tirupur one and a half years ago.
The third child, a four-month-old boy, sold to a partner in Salem three months ago, said the source.
When local residents learned about children’s sales, they told Nala Nala Nala Sangam’s NGO, which brought a problem with the notification of the District Child Protection Department on Wednesday.
Officials of the District Child Protection Department conducted an investigation on the same day and saved the three children on Thursday.
They also filed complaints with All-Woman Ooty police.
Prabhu, the District Child protection officer, said the couple had sold their children for the help of several intermediaries.
“We have saved the three children.
The girls were sent to children’s homes in Ooty, while babies were stored in government medical colleges and hospitals for now.” He said they would take problems with the district administration to decide Further action.
The All-Woman Ooty police have, meanwhile, ordered Robin and Monisha below 317 and 370 from the Criminal Code and Section 81 of the Youth Justice Act.
