Dibrugarh: A teacher from Dibrugarh and her husband, who is an employee of the University of Dibrugarh, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly torturing a 13-year-old boy who had adopted a few months ago.
The defendant, Anuradha, he worked as a teacher at Bogibeel Me School, Dibrugarh and her husband Indrajit Handlique was a Dibrugarh University employee.
The source said that a few months ago, the couple adopted a small child of Bogibeel, the Nahoroni area in Dibrugarh.
He lives in a partner’s residence at the University of Dibrugarh.
Allegedly the couple used to beat boys with sticks and other objects and made it locked in the bathroom for days without food.
They even threatened to kill him.
The problem was revealed when the boy told his parents about this when he came home recently.
Additional SP (headquarters) of Bitul Chetia on Wednesday said that the couple accused had been booked below 344, 323, 294, 506 R / W 14 of the Law of Child Labor.
ASP said, “We have registered a case at the police station Dibrugarh and began an investigation.
Both husband and wife have been arrested.
We are investigating whether they legally adopt the boy or not.
They will be handled according to the law.”
