The couple was held to deceive people Rs 83 lakh

New Delhi: A man and his wife was arrested for allegedly cheating 18 people to RS 83 lakh tone after promising to invest their money in the garment export business two years ago, officials said on Wednesday.
Amit Mishra (63), after postgraduate in philosophy and his wife Kamshesh Mishra (59), who had done a PhD in the economic field, was arrested from Greater Noida on Tuesday for committing a criminal violation of trust, fraud and conspiracy.
In 2019, a case was registered against a couple based on complaints submitted by 18 people, police said.
The complainants accused that the couple induces them to invest RS 3 Lakh in their garment business, convincing them to double the amount invested after six months.
Because the complainants know Amit and Kamlesh personally, they trust them and invest in their scheme.
After completing the specified period, when the victims asked for their number individually from a partner, the defendant told them that their number was lost in business and refused to return their money.
Then, the victims knew that the couple did not have an export business.
The additional police commissioner (EOW) RK Singh said Amit and Kamlesh escaped without repaying that number to the complainant.
Then, Kamlesh was declared a person who was proclaimed by the court and anticipatory guarantee of his husband Amit was also dismissed by the Delhi High Court.
“A team was formed to capture the couple accused and with the help of technical supervision, Amit Mishra and his wife Kamlesh were arrested on Tuesday from Greater Noida.
They have been produced before the appointed court and further investigation is underway,” Singh said.
