The court ordered the seizure of DC government cars to compensate for farmers

Kalaburagi: Kalaburagi District Court ordered the government’s vehicle seizures used by deputy commissioners after the government failed to clean up compensation for a farmer for a decade.
The vehicle was then returned to the office after the government promised to deposit half the compensation for farmers in court.
The order for seizures was ratified in January.
On Tuesday, officials arrived at the office to seize the executive petition vehicle.
“When the supporters arrived, I firmly told them that I would file a counter-FIR if they capture the vehicle after that they returned it.
In our account, we don’t have money to pay compensation,” he said.
Farmer Kallappa Bagappa’s 33 Gunta from fertile land in Afzalpur has been submerged during an elevator irrigation project.
He struggled to get compensation for 10 years.
Farmers have not received one cent.
Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Limited (KNNL) is the authority that acquires land for the project in 2007-2008.
In 2012, Kallappa submitted the first petition in the Afzalpur Taluk Court for compensation and then moved higher courts.
The execution petition was submitted with the first mining civilian judge (senior division) in 2020 for compensation of Rs 7.72 lakh.
While hearing this case in January, the judge ordered the seizure of the car used by the deputy commissioner.
Lawyers, SS Mainal, said the Deputy Police Commissioner was confiscated by court officials.
However, when administration promised to deposit half of the total compensation in court, vehicles returned.
Officials had attached papers on it by saying it had been confiscated.
Mainal said he himself handled 23 executive petitions in connection with this elevator irrigation project.
Many farmers fight in court for compensation.
Kallappa said he was in obedience and the executive director KNNL had turned deaf ears for his request.
“Like me, many farmers protested near the KNNL office, but it didn’t work.
I was still not sure of securing payment from the government,” he Ruja.
Deputy Commissioner said this was a 10-year-old case and to get publicity, farmers and advocates had approached the media.
