The Covid-19 case in the third wave of pandemics has begun to fall in seven states and the United States, while some other people witness a slowdown in waves, weekly numbers reveal.
However, the death of the virus rose in all the main states of the country in the week ended Sunday (January 17-23), compared to seven days earlier.
The sharpest fall in the case is recorded in Delhi and Bengal.
National capital reported 81,741, down 96% of the previous week’s calculation of 1,60,240.
Bengal recorded a sharper drop, with a figure down 111% in a week.
Jharkhand reported a decline of 83% in the case this week, Bihar 71%, Cave 8.5% and Chandigarh 14%.
Chhattisgarh reported a 1% nominal decline.
The surge clearly slowed in several other states.
Maharashtra saw the case up only 2.6% for a week while Odisha saw a surge in 11% and 14% punjab – all reported lower growth rates than the previous week.
On the other hand, a surge in accelerated cases in Kerala, which recorded an increase of 65%, Andhra Pradesh (67%), J & K (61%), Assam (57%), Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat (both 53%) and Telangana (41%).
Maharashtra recorded the highest number of deaths during the week at 307, followed by Kerala (279), Delhi (257), Bengal (250), Tamil Nadu (195) and Punjab (195).
Overall, India registered an increase in fatality of 91%, with 2,672 deaths for a week.
On Monday, India reported 2.53 lakh new cases (with data from one country awaited), down from 3.07 lakh the previous day.
Cases of swimming every Monday due to lower testing and other disorders over the weekend.
Death remained high in 442, the second highest daily toll road during the third wave after 461 fatalities was recorded on Saturday.
