Ahmedabad: The curfew at night has ensured that ‘Aam Amdavadis’ lives on the road, but the same cannot be said for thieves.
Even though the police had deployed the most corners and corners of the city to ensure that the curfew was strict, thieves hit the jewelry store in Vasna and a cellphone shop in Vastrapur in two separate incidents on Sunday night.
Resident Paldent Rajesh Shah, who owns a jewelry shop, told Vastra police that thieves had stolen ornaments worth Rs 3.45 lakh from his shop.
The 47-year-old said he closed his shop at around 8:30 a.m.
on Sunday and opened it around 9am on Monday.
“The lights turned on.
I walked in and saw a large hole in the wall behind the store.
The thieves have associated with silver stored in the showcase.
Weigh around 7kg,” Shah said.
CCTV footage from the area shows two thieves break the wall, enter the store and run away with booty.
, In the incident of Vastrapur, the thief entered the store and fled with RS 37,400 in cash and seven phones worth Rs 1.29 lakh.
