Chennai: The death of the Vivekh actor in April was not related to the Covid-19 vaccine which had been taken two days earlier, the Causality assessment report released by the Ministry of Health Union.
The day before the sixth edition of the mega vaccination camp, Minister of Health MA Subramanian said rumors about his death related to the covid-19 vaccine increased doubts and inhibited vaccination drives in the state.
Vaccine coverage in Tamil Nadu continues to remain below the national average of 76% for the first dose and 31% for the second dose, he said.
Until Friday, 68% of adults in Tamil Nadu had taken the first dose and 26% of them had completed a vaccination course, he said.
At least 57 Lakh people will mature for the second dose of vaccines even because almost 32% of adults – most of them senior citizens – have not taken vaccines.
On September 14, the Ministry of Health Uni released the results of the causality assessment for 92 cases throughout India which was completed after a thorough review, deliberation and approval by the National Immunization Committee (AEFI).
Among the Anisolis lines of the Causality Assessment was the details of 59-year-old men who died two days after taking Covaxin because of “acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) with cardiogenic shocks with ventricular fibrillation in known hypertension cases.” Health officials in the state confirmed that it was a vivekh actor sheet that died on April 17, two days after taking Covaxin.
On August 27, the National Committee classified his death as category C (conditions / conditions underlying / emerged by chance / appeared caused by exposure to something other than vaccines).
Data from the immunization division shows that nearly 55% of senior citizens in this country have not taken their first dose of vaccines.
“Evidence from all over the world and data from within the country, shows that vaccination reduces events, hospitalization and death of Covid-19,” said DPH Dr.
TS Selvavinayagam.
On Saturday, when the country began driving vaccinations from nearly 50,000 camps, it would have more than 65 doses of lakh in stock.
“We hope to encourage the coverage of the first dose to at least 70% and complete vaccination coverage of up to 30%,” he said.
