New Delhi: The pilot project to increase the supply of air East Delhi through 30 modern extraction wells in the premise of Sonia Vihar’s water treatment plant and 70 better will be built there, Chairman of Delhi Jal (DJB) Satyendar Jain said on Tuesday.
Every modern extraction can provide 1.2 to 1.6 million gallons of water per day, which is six to eight conventional extraction capacity well, he said.
The main difference between the two types of wells is that new ones can purify their own water and do not require a treatment plant to treat raw water.
“The Delhi government has designed and built 30 modern extraction wells at the Sonia Vihar water treatment plant as part of the pilot project to increase water supply (in Delhi Timur).

Modern wells will increase the supply of water in East Delhi to 25 to 30 percent, said an official statement.
The Delhi government has promised to provide drinking water 24×7 pipes to all households in the capital, and this is a very important step to change this promise to reality, Jain said.
Modern wells have been built with joint efforts by the JAL Delhi council, Public Works Department, and the Department of Flood and Irrigation.
