The drain project left many roads in Srinivasa Nagar

Chennai: Some roads in Srinivasa Nagar in the Perungudi zone are not included in the Integrated Storm Water Disposal Project, the pictures of the Tender Document show.
Officials at the Greater Chennai Storm Water Disposal Department said Zon-level officials might have used older maps and promised to include roads and held a meeting with the population before the project began.
Recently, the corporation gave a contract to put the storm water flowing more than 40 km in areas such as Hindu colonies, P V Nagar, Kannan colony, Nehru Colony, Naganalur, Srinivasa Nagar, Sadhasivam Nagar and Gubendiran Nagar in the Pusatur Zone and Perungudi.
Work order for the project ₹ 150 crore has been issued but the work has not started.
“We were surprised to dry up being built in our area without a peg holder meeting.
We are looking for designs from officials last December, but they did not share it with us.
When the tender document was uploaded, we found them entering the map.
So when we checked out, we found our area not Including, “said Chillah, a member of Resident’s Welfare Association of Srinivasa Vivekananda, Jalan Kavimani, Jalan Balaji, Jalan Nakereran, Jalan Padmavathi and Vallal Kathir Street were among those who were ‘missing’ as incomplete.
Association members said they met SWD officials in the Ripon building on Thursday.
“They were surprised when we showed pictures of tender documents and wondered how we held it.
They did not understand why so many roads were displayed as ‘incomplete’ in the picture while in fact they were finished.
The reason given is that the details of the old survey are used without updating , “said Dayaran, Secretary of the Association.
He added that officials had promised them Srinivasa Nagar would be integrated into the SWD network from time to time.
“The German consultant wants to work with us carefully, not only in the SWD project but also in other civil projects.
Stakeholder meetings will be held soon, mostly after local agency polls,” Chilha said.
A senior company official said they would ensure design in all tenders will be reworked by contractors and work taken only after approval by IIT-M and the corporation.
“We will make sure all the way is closed,” he said.
