Ludhiana: A SUV is out of control after the driver allegedly died of a heart attack and then crashed into two-wheeled vehicles, killing female riders.
The accident took place on Hambran road on Saturday afternoon.
While the SUV was driven by Arun Jain from Singh Nagar Bal in the Basti Jodhewal area, the 35-year-old Medaglu Nagar Reema drove an asset.
Police officials said Innova came from the South City area with a woman sitting in her back seat and was heading for Haibowal.
The driver allegedly suffered a heart attack between 2 PM and 2 PM, and lost control of the vehicle which then crashed into two wheels from behind, added officials.
The police said the SUV then hit a car parked on the side of the road, the electricity pole and the drain before stopping.
While Arun died at that place, the audience took Reema to Dairanand Medical College and the hospital in an automatic rickshaw but he died.
An eyewitness said Reema came out of the health center, when the SUV hit his bicycle.
He said a woman who sat in the back seat of the SUV raised an alarm after an accident after that people gathered there.
Eyewitnesses said while the driver of the vehicle had died, the woman was still breathing.
Another eyewitness said he came to consult a doctor at the hospital, when he heard a sound like an explosion.
When he rushed to the place, he saw a car and a broken girl on the road.
He said the woman lost a lot of blood after a collision.
The investigation officer of the case, ASI Amreek Singh from the Pau Police Station said they investigated the problem and the cause of the driver’s death would be known after a medical examination.
However, he said there was a possibility that the driver might die from a heart attack.
Police officials said the woman who sat in the back seat of the SUV did not accept a big injury.
They added that the driver might be more than 50 years old and have worked with family (Innova owner) for a long time.
Meanwhile, the accident was arrested on the CCTV camera installed in the area.
