Kolkata: riders relieved that their long-term demand for receiving digital licenses, stored in Digi-Locker, was finally approved by the State Transport Department on Thursday.
As a result, physical copies of licenses and driving documents related to the vehicle will no longer be carried out on the road.
The Kolkata traffic police have long asked the transportation department to “quickly approve” E-license licenses follow online complaints about riders about digital documents that are not accepted.
The decision will help launch its e-challan system faster, claimed by the police.
DigiLocker platforms from the Electronic Ministry and IT and the MPARIVahan application of the Ministry of Road Transportation and Highway have facilities to store the digital version of various documents, including SIM, registration certificate, and even vaccine certificates.
This electronic record available in DigiLocker or MPARIVahan is considered legally recognized with original documents, in accordance with the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Under the 1988 motorized vehicle ACT, and the 1989 motorbike vehicle rules, the owner / driver must produce documents with the appropriate authority request.
Details of new vehicle insurance and insurance updates are also uploaded on the database of the Vahan and they are reflected in the MPARIVahan / Echallan application from the Ministry.
