Pune: A driver of the Autorickshaw allegedly kidnapped a six-year-old girl from a Footpath Dwellers family at Sanjay Gandhi Road near Pune train station and raped him in a commercial building near Parvati during Thursday during Thursday.
The incident approached the heel of a 14-year-old gang rape case.
According to the police, the kidnapping occurred at 1.30 in the morning.
“We can arrest the suspect and save the girl from a commercial building in two hours from kidnapping because some vital instructions provided by other autorickshaw drivers, who have seen the suspect pick up the girl.
He even followed the suspect for the distance before losing his footsteps,” said Deputy Commissioner Police (Zone II) Sagar Patil.
“The authorickshaw driver has recorded the suspect vehicle registration number and passed him to the police,” said Patil.
“The girl has been treated at the Sassoon General Hospital for a medical examination,” DCP said, added that a case under the relevant parts of the IPC and the Pocso Law had been registered.
Yashwant Gawari’s senior inspector from the Bund Garden police told Tii, “the authorickshaw driver who was arrested, Sagar Maruti Mandhre (39), was a resident of Katraj.
He has a valid permission and SIM.” (The identity of the victim has not been revealed to protect his privacy in accordance with the Supreme Court’s direction about cases related to sexual violence)
