Mangaluru: Sahyadri Sanchaya, supported by NRI Vasudev Aithal, will launch the ‘Vana Chethana’, a special education program for children of Uttara Kannada, in the Government High School, Nandolli, Monday.
Dinesh Holla, Convenor, Sahyadri Sanchaya, who works to lift tribes and to protect the environment, told TI that last year, through the ‘Vana Beaku’ program, 36 camps to motivate tribal children, who did not go to school, were held.
As a follow up, ‘Vana Chethana’ was launched.
“This is an effort to ensure that children, especially from the Siddi, Halakki, Kunubi and Gauli Communities, who live in Yellapur’s forest, Joida and Anashi, do not lose education during a pandemic,” he said.
“We hope to reach at least 40 schools, and Vasudev Aithal has given a new dimension to this program.
All samveda e-classes from the government, who are also telecast in DD Chandana, have been downloaded on pen drives and submitted to several schools, along with television .
We have visited every remote village, and realizes that children do not have access to television sets, and if there is a television set, no power supply.
Aithal has a plan to provide a sun inverteater to school, “he said.
Nearly 40 speakers, from all states, have agreed to volunteer, and take various activity-based learning initiatives for children.
“We plan to document the program and send reports to the government.
If successful, this learning model can be implemented in other remote places in the state,” Holla said.
NRI Vasudev Aithal, who was in the US for the past 26 years, said the initial education was very fundamental to the success of every child.
“If we can make a few changes in early education, many can be achieved.
This is an ad hoc program to help communities less special,” he said.
Higher government elementary school, Nandolli, the principal of Bhaskar rises said that the school was equipped with a smart TV and pen drive last week.
“This has helped, because students and teachers can stop whenever they are needed, and watch lessons again,” he said.
