The elderly made 60% of Covid Pune’s death in Jan

Pune: Senior citizens with one or more existing diseases that have previously contributed 60% of the total 158 Covid Pune deaths from January 1-27, the latest report from the district administration has revealed.
Despite the number of victims, in absolute quantities, falling dramatically during the third wave, the report shows that the mortality rate (in percentage) remains higher among parents.
Of the 158 Covid deaths, 96 (60%) are people over 60 years (see boxes).
A large number of those who give up on Covid’s related complications are not partially immunized.
“The proportion of Covid deaths remains higher among senior citizens since the beginning of the pandemic.
In addition to old age, the underlying medical conditions such as diabetes make them vulnerable to Covid severe.
Therefore, initial maintenance is the key,” Additional District Health Officers Abhay Tidke.
In contrast to the second wave when the patient will get hypoxic, the current trend is more than a mild disease.
“The third wave was driven by Omicron, which had not yet caused organ involvement so far.
Only a small number of patients who need hospital admission,” said Head of the Intensic Ruby Hall Clinic Kapil Zirpe, who is also a member of the Covid Task Force in Pune.
The underlying condition is one of the reasons for high death in the age group.
“If you ask me how many people die from pure Covid complications in my ICU, I would say very little.
Most of them are the main causes of death or complications are something else, but because they test positively as part of the acceptance protocol The hospital, they were labeled as Covid victims after their deaths, “he said.
Dr.
Subhal Dixit, Chairperson of Intentivist from Sanjeevan Hospital, said, “The severity seen in the second wave did not exist during this surge.
Among patients received in Covid ICU, more than 60% were incidental cases.” During the second wave (April – June 2021), Pune District reported 2,296 deaths in April and 5,399 deaths in May and 6,099 highs in June.
“The death rate is drastically low because the patient is not panting and slipping into the cytokine storm, a known complication of Covid,” said Head of Vishwa-Raj Hospital intensive Kapil Borawake.
