PANAJI: Even when AAP promises up to 300 free electricity units for each household, the state government on Wednesday approved the Rs 120 Crore from Treasury State to avoid rising power rates, as did during the last financial year.
The Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant said that when the state government decided not to add tariffs, it would have an additional burden of Rs 120 Crore to the state government.
Last year, because of a pandemic, the state government has maintained tariffs in delays until March 31 this year.
“Considering the prevalence of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it was also proposed to keep tariff rates for the financial year 2021-22 in delays,” said Cabinet Notes.
Cabinet records also stated that because the general public faced difficulties because of the ongoing pandemic, the implementation of order tariffs issued in the financial year of 2021-22 at this point will further increase the burden of consumers.
Furthermore, the pandemic has resulted in a decline in the tourism and hospitality sectors and other related commercial activities, which leads to the loss of business and income for the broad spectrum of the state population.
“Income from most citizens has been negatively affected because the effects of cascading from the decline in business and other activities.
Therefore, to provide assistance to consumers and revive the economy of the country, the Goa government has taken assistance steps,” said the note.
The cabinet is suitable for maintaining order rates for the financial year 2021-22 in delay 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022, except for RS 3.5 per unit retribution according to the order of tariffs for the book year 2021-22 to the “Electric Vehicle Charging Station” category, and Implementation of KVAH-based tariffs for high voltage categories (HT) or EHT.
For all other categories, subsidies will apply to cancel orders for tariffs for 2021-22, issued by the commission of electric regulations joints.
Reacting to the cabinet decision, Delhi CM Arvind Kelamwal congratulated the people of Goa.
