Mangaluru: Finally, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has decided to create an active environment committee.
City Corporation will hold workshops for members of the new environmental committee formed, two months after their formation.
Mayor Premanand Shetty said workshops for members of the Environment Committee will be held with corporators participation in each ward.
“The Commissioner of the MCC will schedule workshops for members of the Environment Committee soon.
The problem related to the environment and the demands of people regarding development will be discussed at the meeting.
The process of activating the Environmental Committee is postponed because of the election code of ethics,” he said.
Mangaluru City Corporation has invited applications from citizens, who are interested in becoming part of the Environment Committee, in July 2021.

The mayor said the government would increase annual sanctions to Corporators for the development of the environment from Rs 25 Lakh to Rs 50 Lakh.
“All 60 Corporators must submit proposals for various development jobs to be taken in their respective wards so that the grant will be increased to Rs 50 Lakh from next year.
We hope to exceed the target in collecting income,” Shetty said.
