The EU revived the wide journey of blocks with Covid Pass but delta poses a threat

Brussels: Covid certificates throughout the EU for more elusive travels take effect on Thursday, just in time for a busy summer vacation period in Europe, but the more contagious Delta variant has threatened its use.
EU documents – Basically the QR code available in digital form on a smartphone or hard copy – shows whether the carrier is vaccinated with one of the EU-approved Jabs (from Bionech / Pfizer, AstraZeneca, owned by Johnson & Johnson), has recovered from infection, or have a negative Covid test recently.
Under the UE Law, this certificate is intended to remove quarantine or further testing while traveling between 27 EU countries or four related European countries (Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein).
Commissioner Justice EU Didier Reynders said he hoped all the EU member countries were connected from Thursday.
Only Ireland, which was hit by a cyber attack targeting his health services in May, will be left behind.
On Wednesday, 21 UE countries have received certificates, including the main tourist destinations of France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Croatia.
“We recommend to all member countries to use such tools not only for free movement law …
but also for all national use possible, for other purposes: to go to concerts, festivals, theaters, restaurants,” said Reynders.
But the surge in the Delta variant was first detected in India and is now rampant in former UE members of England, can trigger the provisions of “emergency brakes” suspend the acceptance.
Germany has announced a ban on tourists who entered Portugal, where the Delta variant has become dominant.
Only residents or residents themselves are excluded if they quarantine for two weeks.
Berlin’s decision had lifted Ire Brussels, with Reynders saying “we must avoid travel prohibitions” in the EU and emphasize that Germany should consult his partners first.
Rise surprisingly English in Delta infection – now has a two-week infection rate that is rolling more than seven times than the EU – producing deep concerns on the continent.
At the EU Summit last week, German Chancellor Angela Merkel criticized South UE countries – desperate for tourist cash – to allow in the UK with several Covid checks.
This week, Portugal, Spain and Malta suddenly increased restrictions for travelers from England, emphasizing full vaccination to enter.
Outside the European Union certificate, Brussels urged all member countries to allow tourists who are fully vaccinated from outside the block, or those who have an urgent reason to visit.
But, it’s not like for a certificate, it’s just a “guidance” that can be ignored.
Even the EU certificate may not fill a lot of hope for.
“There is no doubt that the tourism industry can carry out encouragement in the summer,” said economic capital economic research consultation in a note.
But they estimate the EU certificate “will have a very little impact on European tourism this year,” observing that “Most adults are not fully vaccinated and the Delta variant makes people and the government be more careful”.
The airline grouped together in the umbrella lobby group, A4E, has expressed concern that “an inconsistent approach” among EU countries in Covid European Union Certificate examination can create a long line at the airport with the potential to “create a new health hazard”.
They call a certificate to check online before tourists even arrive at the airport.
Reynders responded by saying the European Commission stands to help with technical implementation, but emphasizes that the fact that there is one UE certificate than 27 national people are very efficient in the block.
Overall, the EU government weigh the public desire for summer holidays after a difficult year from restrictions on the race between the vaccination and Delta variant.
AFP statistics that collect official health data from all EU show that 50.4 percent of block populations have now received at least one vaccine dose (compared to 65.7 percent in the UK).
So far, 32.7 percent in the EU is considered fully vaccinated.
Covid experts initially believed in “HERD immunity” can be achieved by 70 percent of the population that is fully vaccinated, but now assesses it will require 80 percent or more immunized, given the delta infection and the facts vaccine is less effective against it.
