Brussels: The European Commission said on Tuesday that 70% of the European Union adult population was fully vaccinated against Covid-19, hitting the target set at the beginning of the year.
The announcement marked an important milestone in the EU vaccination strategy after a slow start, but also covered large differences between EU countries, with several countries above the 70% goal while others in the eastern region were poorer far behind.
“70% of adults in the EU are fully vaccinated.
I want to thank many people who allow this great achievement,” said European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen on Twitter.
