Berlin: The European Union plans to introduce the absolute cutting date after all the producers must stop producing burning cars, said the head of the executive commission.
Ursula Von Der Leyen said in an interview with Germany Sueddeutsche Zeitung that even though a dozen European car makers had announced they would turn to zero emissions between 2028 and 2035, the date of legal cutting was still needed.
“We will still set the final date after that, all the cars must be free of emissions,” he said, without mentioning that date.
“If not, there will be a lack of certainty and we will not achieve our goals about climate neutrality in 2050.” The European Commission on Wednesday revealed the proposal package “suitable for 50” which, if approved by 27 member countries, will place the third largest blocks in the world – on the track to meet the objectives of 2030 to reduce planet heating emissions 55% from 1990 levels.
Package Released will face the month of negotiations between member countries and the European Parliament and tend to be the target of malignant lobbying efforts by many industries affected.
