Thiruvananthapuram: The excise squad on Monday arrested a young man for selling liquor on a bicycle here.
The person arrested was identified as anilkumar, Putra Rajayyan, a resident of Marayamuttam in Perukadavila.
He was arrested by a team led by Neyattinkara Excise officials of Prevention of Shaju.
Anilkumar tried to escape when he saw excise officials, but he was chased and arrested.
According to officials, the anilkumar is used to buy liquor from drink outlets at Rs 700 and will sell it for RS 1,000.
The excise team has intensified raids in rural areas based on information that the sale of illegal liquor is rampant on holidays.
Anilkumar is under the supervision of the excise team.
The team also confiscated two wheels used to transport liquor and six liters of liquor from him.
He was produced in court and had been returned into court detention.
Excise officials in the range of Neyattinkara on Saturday night have arrested a 40-year-old man because of the sale of illegal liquor.
The team has confiscated six liters of Indian liquor making India (IMFL) and its motorcycle.
Excise officials identified the defendant as a shaji, 40, from Perumbaloor near Ankode in the village of Perunkadavila.
He was ordered at a relevant cost for Bootleging.
Excise officials said the defendant was arrested from Ankode where he was seen selling liquor on his motorcycle parked beside the road.
He was arrested during a road inspection by the patrol team consisting of Shaju Excise Prevention Officers and Nooju Civil Excise Officers and Harshakumar on Saturday night.
The defendant had bought liquor from various state beverage corporate outlets and was intended to sell it among Tipler for a higher price, exploiting the high demand for liquor during locking.
