The family returned to steal gold worth RS 8CR after 22 years

Mumbai: After waiting for 22 years, the owner of the Charagh Din, the name established in the Mode Community, received the stolen property worth more than Rs 8 Crore after the court order.
Further UJ Judge session on January 5 gave orders to submit property, which consisted of one gold coin that contained a picture of Queen Victoria, two gold bracelets, and two ingots weighing 1,300 grams and 200 milligrams (collectively Rs 13 Lakh and now more than Rs 8 Crore) to Raju Daswani, son of the founder of Charagh Din Arjan Daswani.
The Public Prosecutor Iqbal Solkar and Inspector Sanjay Donnar from Police Colaba stated that they did not object to returning the property, depending on certain conditions.
Raju Daswani handed over various bills and receipts, which confirmed that the booty belonged to his family.
“There is no considerable purpose by keeping the article, especially the gold article, detained by the police.
More than 19 years passed.
The judgment of the release in this matter (is) by the session court learned.
There was no progress (made) in the arrest of two defendants escaping .
If the complainant asks to wait years for the return of own property together, it would be a mockery of justice and abuse of legal process, “the command said.
Precedents are also quoted.
“Consider the ratio set in the case of Sunderbai Ambala Desai, the applicant is entitled to the return of all the properties claimed in the application,” said the command.
On May 8, 1998, a gang armed with a knife was blown into Arjan Daswani’s house, who lived on the fourth floor of the Joy Eden building in Merryweather Road, Colaba.
The gang attacked security guards, forcibly took the key to the safe, tied to Daswani and his wife and escaped with booty.
The police arrested three charges ordered for robbery, wrong confinement and under the Bombay police law.
Police in 1998 restored parts of booty.
After the case commitment to the session court in 1999, a trial was carried out and the three were released.
Three accused of still running away.
Arjan Daswani died in 2007.
The court has set the condition that the articles are produced as and when directed by the court.
Articles cannot be sold and defaults will result in loss of Rs 1 lakh.
The court also directed the police to take photos and prepare specifically.
Raju Daswani’s lawyer, Sunil Pandey, said, “This is a great relief for the family because there are many emotional attachments in ornaments, which come from their ancestors.” Police said two Raju sisters (living in Canada and the US), who were also legal heirs, had provided an objection certificate if gold was given to him.
